My name is Rebecca Greene and I am fourteen years old. I attend Pearce Junior High in Newfoundland, where I am involved in Anti-bullying/Decorating/Yearbook committee, Society for Social Justice, Choir, Drama, Cross Country, Soccer and Volleyball. I have been in Marystown Minor Hockey for three years, on the Marystown Marlins Swim Club for two, and in Burin Minor Soccer since I was four. My favourite books are the 'Harry Potter' series, 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and 'My Sister's Keeper,' favourite television shows are 'CSI' and 'Bones,' and favourite movies are 'The Notebook' and 'The Pursuit of Happyness.' When I get older, I plan to be either a Doctor or both a Physical Education teacher and an English teacher. I love creating any kind of art, especially painting and drawing. Reading and writing are my passion and I am currently writing a novel. Some of my accomplishments are: winning the Under 20 Provincial 'C' Championship this past season, competing in the Kiwanis Music Festival in April, going to the Provincial Drama Festival in Gander last year, competing in the Regional Drama Festival this past April and having a sample of my writing published in 'Dawning Hopes.' |
| Rebecca Greene North, South, East, West - What Way Does a Tree Grow Best?
Division: | Sciences de la santé | Catégorie: | Intermédiaire | Région: | Central Newfoundland | Ville: | Burin Bay Arm, NL | École: | Pearce Jr. H.S. | Sommaire: | This project required the examination of nine balsam fir trees from four different locations, testing whether tree growth is greater in one direction than the other. To conserve the environment, stumps of previously cut trees were used. My hypothesis was that the most growth would be on the South side. In conclusion, I observed that the preferred direction of growth was on the North side. |
