Biographie
Hi, my name is Jacob McGavin. I founded the group Kids Care which is a group based on young students making a difference in others lives. We have done much for the environment and we also have raised $7000 for building a school in Kenya. I am also involved in many sports teams such as hockey, baseball and soccer. Some of my hobbies and interests are reading, playing sports, exploring the outdoors and competitive plowing. I am not quite sure what I would like to do when I grow up but I like that it would be very cool to be an environmental engineer or an environmental activist. I have been to pre-provincial speeches twice and have placed 2nd both times. I also have made it to Seaforth for our regional science fair every year and was representing Huron County in Ottawa last CWSF as well. Finally I have won the Key Contribution Award for the Avon Maitland District School Board for encouraging positive citizenship with the students. Just recently I also received the Junior Citizen of the Year Award in Ontario for 2008, with 11 others. I am very excited to be representing my home town here in Ottawa!

Using mathematical formulas, this project explored the effectiveness of these methods throughout Ontario as well as possible solutions to increase use by regular households. This project reported that billions of dollars and megawatts of energy could be saved annually in Ontario if conscious energy saving decisions were made.
