Biographies
Jasneet - Hi! I am Jasneet Brar and am currently completing grade 12 at WJ Mouat Secondary School in Abbotsford, BC. I am a very hardworking and a resilient individual, though I do tend to leave everything for last minute (for example this biography). I am heavily involved in both my school and local communities. Being passionate about Science, I co-founded the Vector Science Club at my previous school. At school now, I am a part of Senior Leadership, Yearbook and the Benevolent Nerd Society (no, we are not actually nerds, just volunteer tutors). I am also an in-school mentor with Big Brother, Big Sisters of Canada. Outside of School, I am a VolunTEEN Team Leader at the local hospital, and the Regional Correspondent for SMARTS. I can play the harmonium, an Indian classical instrument and have recently picked up the guitar. This coming fall, I am planning to attend the University of the Undecided to complete a Bachelor of Science program in order to attend Medical School and become a Paediatric Oncologist. This will be my 3rd trip to CWSF and am looking forward to the city of Toronto!
Dalvir Kaur - I am an enthusiastic and energetic student graduating from the Mennonite Educational Institute in Abbotsford, BC. I am excited to pursue a career in medicine as a cardiac surgeon and look forward to attending the University of British Columbia (Vancouver Campus) in the fall. My positive experience in two previous CWSF competitions have allowed me to co-found the Vector Science Club that allows students at Dasmesh Punjabi School to experience science in the same fun and hands-on way. In my community, I have taken on a leadership initiative through participation in various non-profit organizations. As a part of the Sr. Leadership class, I am involved in planning and ogranizing school banquets, dances, fundraisers and spirit days. As a representative of MEI on Abbotsford Youth Commission’s Youth Council, I discuss key issues facing youth in the community and help organize activities that reinforce positivity in my peers. I also volunteer at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital where I interact and communicate with senior patients. I am very excited to be particpating in the 2011 CWSF and look forward to the city of Toronto!
