Biography
My name is Danilla Xing. My school is Bishop Hamilton Montessori School. This year my project was one of 11 to go to Lethbridge A.B. to attend the CWSF. My project was inspired by my personal hobby, fencing. Going through the process of creating my project to finishing was really enjoyable for me because of my passion for fencing and being able to use that for other purposes. I participate in various events all throughout the year, some in school others not. I take part in our school choir and we sing at senior homes and churches during the Christmas season. I volunteer at a fencing camp through the summer and help children enjoy the sport I love. I compete in tournaments all throughout the year at provincial and national level. A piece of advice I would give to other students thinking about doing a project would be to relate it to something you love. Doing that can really drive you forward and you will also enjoy the experience much more like I have.

Abstract:Specialized shoes must fit the individual needs for sport actions. Image analysis was applied to study the pressure and force directions during fencing lunges and basketball jumps. Particular attention was given to forefoot, mid-foot, heel and toes. The data and the current design agree to each other with a few discrepancies, which suggests a more versatile and healthier design of shoes.
