Biographie
I am in grade seven at Bruce Middle School in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Besides competing in science fairs, I love participating in sports. I swim, run marathons, curl, play hockey and play baseball. Baseball is my favourite sport, and my team has won the area championship the last two years. Some interests of mine include camping, reading, geocaching, and hanging out with friends and family. I like helping my community by volunteering, being part of my school's Green Team and participating in events like We Day. I do well in school, have earned a few academic awards, and love English and Science. However, I must admit my favourite class is likely cooking. I have competed in science fairs since grade three. Since grade five, my focus has been on Physics and how it relates to football, baseball, and now curling. This is a perfect inspiration for me since I love both science and sports. I'd still like to find out if different brooms and different sweeping techniques can alter the distance and path of a curling rock. Finally, my advice to future science fair participants would be to believe that hard work can result in great things, even in grade seven.

Curling Rocks!

Sommaire:The purpose of "Curling Rocks!" was to determine if sweeping a curling rock would affect the distance the rock would travel and curl when thrown. I believed that sweeping would increase the distance and lessen the curl, which in fact, was the result. I applied my experiment to recognized theories, had conversations with expert curlers, and eventually determined that physics supported my results.
