Solar Separation: The Production of Eco-Friendly Fuel
Division:Health Sciences / Automotive
Category:Intermediate
Region:Central Interior British Columbia
City:Prince George, BC
School:Westside Academy
Abstract:The goal of this project was to determine if, by using solar energy to split hydrogen and oxygen from water, we could produce enough hydrogen fuel to run a fuel cell vehicle in northern climate low light levels. Using a solar panel for the process of electrolysis to produce the hydrogen, we discovered that our hypothesis was correct and we could also reduce greenhouse emissions.
