My name is Laura Clark and I am 13 years old. I am in grade 8 and attend Kirkcaldy Heights School. My family moved to Brandon, Manitoba two-and-a-half years ago from Winnipeg. I am involved in many extracurricular activities. I have been playing the oboe in the school band for two years and really like it. Since we moved here I have sung with the Brandon Conservatory Chamber Chorale and really enjoy it. I also play the piano and participate in the Brandon Festival of The Arts every year. I play numerous pieces and a duet annually. I also write piano exams and have received first class honors in all three. I am going to be writing my fourth exam in June. After school I babysit an 8-year-old girl and look after many other young children on weekends. I love to swim and I want to become a lifeguard when I am older. In the summertime I enjoy golfing, tubing and knee boarding while spending time at our cottage with friends and family. When I am in University I want to study architecture, engineering or interior design. |
| Laura Clark A Solution for Potholes?
Division: | Sciences de la santé / Innovation environnementale | Catégorie: | Junior | Région: | Western Manitoba | Ville: | Brandon, MB | École: | Kirkcaldy Heights | Sommaire: | My science project on “A Solution for Potholes” tested a variety of materials in man-made potholes. I built a wooden frame and filled it with a sub-base of sand and poured concrete over balloons to create four potholes. I used combinations of silicone, limestone, wood glue, saw dust, asphalt, and rubber. The results will intrigue you! |
