Biography
My name is Charlie Sobcov, I am thirteen years old, and I go to school in Ottawa, Ontario. This was my second time at regional science fair, and I was so happy to receive the honour of going to nationals this time. I am in the school jazz band (I play the tenor saxophone), as well as the piano, drums, and I am learning to play the bagpipes. My favourite sport is badminton, followed by volleyball and rowing. I love spending time outside, and I canoe and kayak at my cottage all the time. I have had the privilege of travelling with my family, and I love the experience of being in different cultures.

Saving the Birds, One Window at a Time
Division:Engineering & Computing Sciences / Environmental Innovation
Category:Junior
Region:Ottawa
City:Ottawa, ON
School:Turnbull School
Abstract:My project is about creating a decal that uses ultraviolet light to save birds. It uses a type of plastic that uses static electricity to cling to a window. It is coated with a UV paint that is clear to humans but fluorescent to birds. It alerts birds to the presence of the window so that they do not fly into them.
