Biographies
Shelby - My name is Shelby Elizabeth Wallace. I was born in North Bay, Ont. and have lived there my whole life. I attend grade 9 at Widdifield Secondary School. I don’t play many sports, however I do curling, sailing, skiing and cross-country running. Aside from these sports, I also dance. I have been dancing since I was three, and I enjoy it very much. I am on a completive dance team called the Performers Youth Dance Company. With this team I have been to many different places, such as Disney world, New York City, and most recently Greece. As well as being on that dance team, I am also on my school’s troupe de danse. In addition to dance I also play piano, and I am currently studying grade 8. My ideal job when I grow up would be a pediatrician or a family practitioner. I would like these jobs because they deal with both children and medicine.
Aaliya - My name is Aaliya Waja. I was born in Mississauga, Ontario, lived the first year of my life in Newfoundland then moved to North Bay, Ontario. I have an older brother and sister. My parents were born in South Africa and love to travel. I have visited South Africa many times to visit with family. It is a beautiful country and I love spending time with my cousins. I have also travelled to Brazil, Spain, the Bahamas, England and Morocco, and we hope to go to India. I am in Grade 9 and enjoy both academics and sports at school. I am on the school basketball and curling teams and hope to be on the soccer team as well. I play tennis and soccer in the summer and have been doing Karate from the age of six. I have been doing Kumon for eleven years. I achieved the Principal’s Award for the highest marks in grade 8 as well as the Geography Award. I enjoy video games and the benefits of computers. My father has passed on a love of cars to me. I enjoy challenging him to video racing games. I hope to go into Medicine and do Radiology.
