Biographie
I am a Grade 9 student at MacDonald Drive Junior High School in St John’s, Newfoundland. I have been singing in a choir called Shallaway since I was 7 years old. Last year, we toured Cuba and this summer we will be touring China. At school, I sing in both our school choirs. I am co-captain of my school’s cheerleading team. During the summer, I enjoy playing soccer and rowing. I have almost completed my Duke of Edinburgh bronze award and plan to continue to work on my silver and gold awards. Having spent a number of years doing competitive synchronized swimming, I now coach in an adaptive synchronized swimming program (for girls with cerebral palsy) and I help to coach a recreational synchronized swimming team for young girls. I volunteer with the Association for New Canadians where I tutor new refugees (in the elementary level) by enhancing their abilities to read, write and speak in English, and last summer I volunteered with their summer children’s program. In my spare time, I enjoy doing ballet, as well as playing guitar and piano. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in law, specializing in children’s rights and immigration law.

The Intelligibility of Sopranos' Vowels
Division:Sciences physiques et des mathématiques
Catégorie:Intermédiaire
Région:Eastern Newfoundland
Ville:St. John's, NL
École:MacDonald Drive Junior High School
Sommaire:Why is it difficult to distinguish between different
vowels sung by a soprano high in her range? In this project I used MATLAB and Excel to record and analyze
the range of frequencies of different vowels sung on both A440 (low) and A880 (high) by different sopranos and I examined the separation of the vowels in frequency space.
