| My name is Emily Taylor,I am an 18 years old grade 12 student at South Colchester Academy in Brookfield, Nova Scotia. I am the Student Council President of my school and compete in track and field long distance running. In addition I am captain of the senior girls varsity soccer team. I work at the East Hants Swimming Pool as a headguard, swimming instructor and lesson supervisor. At this recreational facility I also am a volunteer helping with the Special Olympics. I get to lifeguard, swim and practice with them, as well as go and help them at various swim meets. In my spare time I love to run. I participated in the Bluenose Half Marathon last year, and will be running in the Johnny Miles Marathon this year in June, as well as the Not Since Moses run at Five Islands this August. Next year I will be attending St. Francis Xavier University working towards my BSc in Nursing. I plan to one day be able to travel over to Third World Countries to volunteer in places less fortunate. |

Pressure shocking treatments of 9500 psi for 5 minutes were found more reliable and consistent than temperature shocking treatments. Red blood cell and nucleus lengths were found to be good indicator of ploidy in Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus), showing cell sizes close to 150% larger than diploids. |
