He has and continues to train in the Shotokan style of karate for the last 5 years with the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF), and has competed at both the provincial and national levels. He is the 2010 & 2011 provincial silver medalist in his age and rank division, and represented Manitoba at the 2010 ISKF National Championship, winning a bronze medal in team kata. His favourite car is the Rolls Royce Phantom II, his favourite bands are Metallica, Scorpions, and Billy Talent, his favourite hockey team is the Vancouver Canucks (as he is loyal to his BC birth place) and he is a Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan. Rahim aspires to one day be either an engineer or a physician. He is also passionate about protecting the environment.

Lake Winnipeg: A Sea of Phosphorus Troubles?
Challenge:Environment
Category:Junior
Region:Winnipeg Schools
City:Winnipeg, MB
School:River Heights School
Abstract:My project is on the growing eutrophication (nutrient loading) problem in Lake Winnipeg. Lake Winnipeg has been suffering from increased algae blooms which have been feeding off of phosphorus in the lake, so my experiment was an attempt to capture how nutrient loading can contribute to algae growth, as well as to show that understanding the problem is the key to the environmental solution.
