Biographies
Kirk - My name is Kirk Lee and I am 14 years old. I attend Algonquin Road Public School in Sudbury, Ontario. I volunteer most weekends at the local science centre, Science North. My hobbies include playing guitar and kick-boxing. I enjoy science and I am hoping to one day study robotic engineering.
Nyle - I was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. I enjoy the outdoors especially camping, fishing, and hiking. What's more, I love to go swimming and now I can dive to thirty feet underwater on a breath hold just using a mask, snorkel, and flippers. I like to sing and have sung at the Sudbury Garlic Festival for the last three years and have also sung at old age homes. In addition to all my hobbies, I love school and especially math. I represented my school, Algonquin Road Public School, in the Math Olympics and received 2nd place in Grade 6, and in Grade 7 and 8, I represented my school in the Math, Science, and Technology Olympics. As well, I participated in the regional Entrepreneurship Fair after placing 3rd at Algonquin Road Public School when I was in Grade 7. I also love puzzles and games like sudoku and chess. Lastly, I have a great fondness for computers. I learned to type 40 words per minute before I was in Grade 3. I am looking forward to starting Grade 9 at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School in the Pre-IB Program to begin a possible career in medicine. Nyle Anderson

Sommaire:The focus of this project was to use magnets to propel a ball bearing. A magnetic linear accelerator was researched, a design was created, and then fabricated. It was thought that using more magnets would propel the ball bearing further. Also, tests were performed to determine if the distance between the magnets would affect the distance the ball bearing traveled.
