| Hi! My name is Emily O’Reilly, I am 12 years old, in grade 7 and attend Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Prince George; the Northern Capital of British Columbia. I am so excited, thrilled, and honored to attend the 2010 National Science Fair in Peterborough. My school is also very excited, as I am the first student in the history of my school to be chosen to participate in such a grand event. My favorite subjects are math and science. Currently I have a 101% average. I also participate in the leadership club, choir, yearbook, basketball, volleyball, Red Cedar Book Club, track and field, and most recently was chosen to represent my school in a local TV program called – “QuizMe”. I love music! I have been playing the violin since the age of three and today play in the “Northern Orchestra”, in Prince George. I also play piano, have completed my music theory with distinction, hold an orange belt in judo, attend speech art classes and am working towards my Bronze Star in swimming. My career goal is to continue with sciences, and specialize in microbiology and research. My dream is to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. |

Caution Bacteria Alert

Thirteen items were swabbed. The bacteria were planted on blood agar plates using a zigzag technique and placed in an incubator for 48 hours. Each plate was carefully analyzed and results recorded. The public keyboard grew the highest variety of harmful bacteria. |
