Biographie
My name is Ahnais Young. I am 14 years old and live in Bonshaw, P.E.I. I am in grade 9 at East Wiltshire School where I play percussion in the grade 9 band, honors band and the jazz band. I began dancing ballet at age 3 and competed in step, tap and highland. I currently take classes in ballet, pointe, jazz and contemporary. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing my drums or watching movies. I have been in Provincial Science Fairs since grade four and have won awards, specialty prizes and attended CWSF 2016 in Montreal. I have also been involved with Provincial Heritage Fairs since grade 5 and have won awards and specialty prizes. The inspiration for my project was a possible link between hemispheric dominance and handedness. Since my father is ambidextrous, I was curious to see if his dominant hemisphere would be different from those of the rest of my family as we are right handed. Further plans for my project include comparing a person's perception of their hemispheric dominance to their actual results. The advice that I would give others is to choose a subject they enjoy and that helps society in some way.

Cerebral Hemispheric Lateralization in Relation to Handedness
Défi:Santé
Catégorie:Intermédiaire
Région:Prince Edward Island
Ville:Cornwall, PE
École:East Wiltshire School
Sommaire:This experiment was created to find out if handedness determines cerebral hemispheric dominance. A series of computer tests were conducted on a population sample of approximately 200 people with 67 participants in each of three age categories. These tests compared handedness to hemispheric dominance through brain lateralization using 3 tests: a Right Hand/Left Hand Test, a Brain Dominance Test and a Handedness Test.
