My name is Julia Cross and I am a junior dogsled racer. I own a competitive dogsled racing team called Criss Cross Racing. I have been running sled dogs since I was 5 years old and compete in races up to 150 miles. I was the top jr. dogsled racer in the lower 48 states this season. Most of my time is dedicated to my dogs, wether it be dogsledding, competing in agility, and training obedience and tricks. My project idea was created after encountering several harness related injuries with some of my sled dogs. I plan on testing out my harness design with my sled dogs in the future. |
| Julia Cross Analysis of Canine Musculoskeletal Injuries from Sled Dog Harness Designs
Défi: | Innovation | Catégorie: | Sénior | Région: | Northwestern Ontario | Ville: | Thunder Bay, ON | École: | Hammarskjold High School | Sommaire: | I compared injuries caused by sled dog harness designs to harness fit (where they lie) on dogs' musculoskeletal system. I collected data from dogsled mushers on various harnesses, and used it to determine pros and cons of each design to find the most effective harness. After finding the most effective current design, I created my own harness based on the positive aspects of other harnesses. |
