| My name is Mikaela Sampson. I am 13 years old and my family has lived in Elliot Lake, Ontario for the past 10 years. I am a grade seven student at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Elementary School. I am a special needs student and have been given the opportunity to use technology to enhance my learning. In 2007, I was recognized with the annual Special Education "Never Give Up" Award from the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board, which gave me new found confidence. I am a member of the Elliot Lake Aquatics Club and swim competitively. Last year I volunteered as an assistant coach with the swim club. I enjoy reading, camping, swimming, school sports and completed a triatholon last year. I am also looking forward to attending a Leadership Camp this summer. |

This experiment compared several natural and man-made ground covers. The conclusion was that natural ground covers outperformed and showed that keeping as much natural ground cover as possible, or replacing with natural ground cover will best solve small or large scale erosion problems. |
