Biographie
My name is Madelaine Lazurko. I live in La Ronge, Saskatchewan. My birthday is in December 1992. I am currently a grade ten French Immersion student. I participate in the school choir and the yearbook club. I am a senior member of the La Ronge figure skating club and a program assistant for the Can Skate and Young Blades program. I play the orchestral piano and have qualified for the provincial music festival for the past five years. I am a distinction student with the Academy of Music and have retained my distinction status for four years. I am an active member in my local parish and frequently help with services. In my spare time, I like to read, swim and spend time with my family and friends. The past few years I have been in the top five of the regional science fair and have won numerous scholarships. I have been twice to the Winner’s Showcase science fair in Regina where I displayed my project. My goal is to graduate with a bilingual diploma and later take university classes working towards an Arts & Science degree.

The Solar Chef
Division:Sciences de la santé / Innovation environnementale
Catégorie:Sénior
Région:Northern Saskatchewan
Ville:La Ronge, SK
École:Churchill Composite H.S.
Sommaire:This project studied solar cooking using two different engineered designs. Ten meals were cooked, nine times each: 3 times in both solar ovens, and once in the oven, microwave and crock-pot. An energy and cost comparison found that solar cooking is better for the environment. The danger zone explains that I was able to solar cook but not able to safely cook every meal.
