Hello my name is Rahma Tawhid, I am in grade 9 and attend Sahali Secondary. I like playing basketball, hiking and writing creative stories at times. Post secondary, I would really like to go into microbiology or medicine. The inspiration to my project first came from a science project I was doing for school about vaccines, and I read about antibiotics and such. Then I saw on the news about illnesses like Ebola and why antibiotic resistance is such a large problem. That's when I did research about many antibiotics and bacteria; and that was where my project originated. I have many future plans with this project. I would like to test more different bacteria and also fungi such as yeast. I would also like to look in the mechanical substances to each of the antimicrobials I used. I want to see if I could find why one antimicrobial did better than the other; then build on that and find other antimicrobials of similar substance. When thinking of doing a project you should really take into account things like; what interests you, the creativity of the idea, how it may help the world or solve some sort of issue. |
| Rahma Tawhid Pharmaceutical vs. Natural Antibiotics and How They Can Improve Each Other

Antibiotic resistance is when a certain medicine doesn't work anymore, it's the reason there are outbreaks like Ebola around the world. I did this by taking already known medicines and mixing them with other natural medicines to see if they would improve each other. |
