Division: | Health Sciences / Environmental Innovation | Category: | Junior | Region: | Algoma Rotary | City: | Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Sault St Marie, ON | School: | Grandview P.S. | Abstract: | This project set out to determine if the Pee Wee Arena should use water filtered by reverse osmosis (RO) for resurfacing ice in an effort to save energy and money. Experiments were conducted that tested properties of ice made by RO and tap water. RO water made faster, harder, clearer and stronger ice and would cost less to maintain than ice made with tap water. |
