| Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Davis Majcher (pronounced “miker”) and I am a grade seven French Immersion student at 100 Mile Elementary School, located in the interior of British Columbia. I live in the country with my Dad (David), Mom (Tina), older sister (Céline) and our dog, Joe. This is my first time attending the CWSF. Other than competing in Science Fair, my school activities include student council, Peer Helpers, the chess club, the creative club (similar to Destination Imagination) and I play percussion in the school band. I also enjoy competing in the school Geography Challenge (winning gold or silver medals since grade four). I also have a life outside of school where I take piano lessons, play soccer and compete in my community’s annual Festival of the Arts. Last year I won the ‘Beginner Instrumental’ award for violin. I also acted in the 100 Mile House Performing Arts play “Bye, Bye Birdie”. Some of my home hobbies include Lego & Lego NXT building and programming, reading about ancient Egypt, playing Nintendo DS games and making funny home videos. |

The experiment was run indoors (greater control of variables) and outdoors (more heat energy). Weather inconsistencies made it hard to draw accurate outdoor conclusions using only one solar heater, though the black, painted aluminum pipes did produce the highest temperature increase. |
