Division:Earth & Environmental Sciences

City:Markham, ON
School:St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School
Abstract:81 marigolds in 3 rows (control, fertilizer, limestone) of 9 pots were watered with solutions of pH 3-11. Germination, height and number of leaves were recorded for 6 weeks. Optimal growth occurred at pH 5-7. Fertilizer improved growth. Limestone improved growth in acid soils. Neither prevented the effect of abnormal pH.
