Lauren - My name is Lauren Arena and the first bit of personal information I would like to share with you is that writing about myself overwhelms me with a feeling of conceit, but for the sake of participation, I will ignore it. I am a grade eleven student at Villa Maria High School in Montreal, Quebec where I am class president. Generally speaking, I enjoy watching bad movies and reading good books and wish I could spend most of my free time doing either of the two. Most of my time however, is currently spent organizing an interscholastic walkathon to raise money for pediatric leukemia. As one can deduce from this statement, I am a hopeful and ardent participator in not only medical research itself, but in its subsidization as well. Moreover, I enjoy tutoring, eating good food and dreaming about runway collections. I love my cat, taking walks (no, not on the beach/ in the sunset), snowboarding and spending time outdoors, if the mosquito populations are dwindling.
Melissa - My name is Melissa Cammuso and I am a grade eleven student at Villa Maria High School in Montreal Quebec. I am class secretary and have been involved in many school events and fundraisers. I recently turned 17 and have been dancing for 10 of these years. I have an affinity for ballet even though it is hard for me to fit into my schedule. I have recently taken up a liking for snowboarding and enjoy baking even though my friend Lauren and I might finish the icing before the cake is even out of the oven. I have been participating in medical research and enjoy it very much. I someday hope to pursue a career in medicine or research. This is my second time participating in the Canada Wide Science Fair and I can’t wait to meet new people with similar interests and learn about not only their projects, but their culture as well.
