Abstract:Under the right conditions, hydrophobic particles or molecules may be removed from a solution by rising air bubbles. This process is known as flotation. The basic principle was demonstrated by dye flotation. The knowledge gained was applied to de-inking and mineral concentration. Flotation saves trees, energy, and protects our environment.
