Biography
Sabrina Nolan is an avid student who enjoys learning and facing new challenges. She has attended The Study School in Westmount, Quebec since kindergarten and is currently in Grade 9. She is passionate about learning and science in particular. Sabrina enjoys participating in science and mathematics related activities, including robotics, math and science competitions. She intends to continue her studies in science and become either a researcher or engineer. During her leisure time, Sabrina enjoys playing volleyball, hockey, and golf. Sabrina has had numerous achievements in the scientific field, notably with her science fair project this year, “Bad Viruses Doing Good Work”, for which she was awarded six prestigious prizes at the Montreal regional level. Sabrina was also awarded several prizes at the Montreal regional science fair in 2009 for her project on DNA sequencing. In 2009 Sabrina participated in a competition entitled “Toy Challenge”, in Washington D.C, for which she and her team designed a board game incorporating advanced engineering techniques. She participated in “First Lego League”, a robotics event, for two consecutive years, advancing to the provincial level both times. She participated in the “All Science Challenge” in both 2008 and 2009, placing second overall both times.

Abstract:Can histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDIs) be used with the vesicular stomatitis (VS) virus to treat and infect prostate cancer cells for them to eventually die? The goal of this experiment was to test the combination of VS Virus infection with HDI treatment.
