Biography
My name is Manus Hopkins. I am a twelve-year-old grade 7 student at Christ the King Elementary School in Whitehorse. I have lived in the Yukon for my entire life. I hold dual citizenship in Canada and Ireland. I have two brothers; one is two years older, and the other three years younger. My parents are both Registered Nurses. I am a certified babysitter, an active member of Scouts Canada, and I volunteer as a cat socialiser with Humane Society Yukon. My major extracurricular interest is music. I have been practising piano for seven years, and guitar for three. I will start playing in the school band this September, when I begin grade 8 at Vanier Catholic Secondary School. I love action movies… the slimmer the plot, the better! Another major hobby is drawing cartoons. My favourite cartoonists are Matt Groening (The Simpsons) and Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy). Most of all though, I am a serious heavy metal music fan! My beloved bands are Slipknot and Gwar. I attended the Heavy Mtl 2010 festival in Montreal last summer, and I will be returning there for the Heavy Mtl 2011 edition this July. This is my first trip to the CWSF!

Abstract:Negative stereotypes associated with rock or rap music abound in the media. Heavy metal performers have been sued in connection with acting-out behaviours committed by fans. Test subjects were exposed to popular styles of music, while physiologic responses were measured and subjective affect recorded. The researcher wished to prove the null hypothesis, distinguishing correlation from causality between listening to music and aggressive behaviours.
