Biography
Hi my name is Tristan Berno. I am 13 years old and in grade seven at St. Michael's Catholic School in Trail, BC. I am very athletic because I play sports such as Golf, Soccer, Skiing, Basketball, Volleyball and Badminton. I spent 4 years in Nancy Greene Ski Racing and received a total of 9 gold medals in Slalom and GS downhill racing. I also play piano and my favorite type of music is Pop! I was inspired for my project when i noticed my janitor was cleaning marker stains off of a students desk. Upon further investigations, I planned to not only find but create a stronger, natural and non-toxic cleaner for our school. Some advice that I would give other students would be to, "to find problems not only in the world but also in your local communities and create a SOLUTION."

Soap Busters - Finding Safer Soaps for Students and Schools!
Challenge:Environment
Category:Junior
Region:West Kootenay & Boundary
City:Rossland, BC
School:St Michael's Elementary
Abstract:A comparison of three highly effective cleaning soaps in my school; Vert-2-Go, Bath Mate and Pro*Fresh. The three commercial soaps were tested on permanent marker stains usually found on school desks. I was compelled to create a 'Home-made cleaner' and tested it against the other commercial soaps. To prove the 'Home-made cleaner' could be a substitute as a healthier alternative cleaner for students and schools.
