Biography
My name is James Storey and I found inspiration for my project through my love of woodworking, experimenting and science. I also love mathematics and I enjoy creating an experiment that allows me to examine a problem using math and statistics. I have lived in the North all of my life and am currently enrolled in the grade nine french immersion program at my school, F.H.Collins. I would recommend to someone who is thinking about doing a science fair project to do an experiment that they are passionate about and that has real world applications. Besides woodworking, math and science, some of my interests include reading, basketball, camping and hunting. I plan to pursue a career in either engineering, science or as a math professor.

Abstract:For my project, I tested seven different types of glue for their torsional, tensile and shear strengths. I designed and built two testing apparatuses to do this and did 369 tests. I found that the Gorilla wood glue and LePage wood glue were the best for non waterproof applications and that the LePage fast-set epoxy and waterproof Gorilla glue were the best for waterproof applications.
