| Madison - My name is Madison Kishayinew, I am currently in grade 12 at Peepeekisis High School. I'm actively involved in all sports offered in school, and will be graduating this year. I am a Powwow dancer, I dance Fancy Shawl and love dancing. I got my inspiration from my kokum. She is a medicine woman/knowledge keeper. I have watched her make medicine and have started making my own. My advice to other youth is don't give up and good things will happen. | | Creedance - My name is Creedance Lianne Bird, my Indian name is Four Directions Angel Woman. I come from a reservation known as Peepeekisis First Nation and I am currently 15 years old in grade 11, I'm attending Peepeekisis High School. I participate in all of the sports that are offered at our school as well as Winter Games. I live a very cultural life. I love dancing powwow, the dance categories I participate in are old style fancy, both contemporary and old style jingle. My kukom Lianne Bird inspired me to take part in the science fair project the "red willow tree" because she is a medicine woman and has taught me the importance of the traditional ways and medicines. I plan on learning more about the ways of life from my kukom. Advice I would like to give other students is; to never give up, good things happen when you put your heart into it. |
