Biography
Hi, my name is Joshua, and I'm from Tomken Road MS in Mississauga. In my free time I enjoy watching shows like Riverdale, Stranger Things and 13 Reasons Why, cooking, and playing Badminton. I got inspiration for my topic from extensive research on unsustainable pesticides, and natural substances with herbivore repelling properties. However, I recognize and agree with the fact that finding a topic is the hardest part of the project, as it can take weeks to months to find a project idea that you believe is worth investigating. The advice I would give is to find a problem, big or small (but impactful), and once you have, firstly test if the problem has a viable, cheap and accessible solution, and if little work needs to be done in terms of solving it. If not, and/or there's an aspect of the problem that needs a solution, spend time thinking of imaginative solutions to the issue, whether it be a new substance you test, or an innovation you build. Remember, the time you spend is worth it in the end. Good luck!

Abstract:Hi, my name is Joshua, and my project is called The Terpenator. It aims to utilize monoterpenes as an organic pesticide, which are natural feeding deterrents in plants. I got inspiration for my project upon research about the environmental consequences of commercial pesticides. There was with three experiments, which test if monoterpenes and which amount applied are most effective, and if they impact plant growth.
