Biography
I was born in BC, where I live with my Mom, Dad, older sister and brother and my dog Frodo. I am currently in grade 7, taking French Immersion. I also take Mandarin lessons on Saturdays. In music, I play the piano at the RCM grade 7 level. I enjoy playing lots of different sports, especially basketball, volleyball, and track & field. Last fall, I was lucky to be able to go to Free the Children’s “We Day” in Vancouver and it has inspired me to help other kids who are less fortunate than me. I like to spend my free time reading, watching movies, and with my friends. When our family has free time together, we like to spend it outdoors since we live close to so many beautiful natural places. I am crazy about animals, especially wild animals (even the ones like insects, worms, toads, snakes, alligators, etc, that other people usually find disgusting), which is probably why I want to protect their habitats, and how I came to pick my topic for my science fair project this year.

Which laundry cleaner is greener?
Division:Health Sciences
Category:Junior
Region:South Fraser
City:Surrey, BC
School:Laronde Elementary
Abstract:Six laundry detergents were tested for their cleaning abilities, then for their potential to harm aquatic animals by comparing their effects on the hatching of brine shrimp eggs and on already-hatched shrimps. To see whether they affected algae growth, changes in turbidity of stream water mixed with each detergent were observed after sunlight exposure. Of the 6 tested, “Country Save” is the “greener cleaner.”
