| I am a grade eight student at Dalewood Middle School in Hamilton. I enjoy music and play the violin and saxophone. I am a member of jazz band at school. I also help lead and conduct some of practices. I have attended the OELC leadership camp and plan to attend this year as well. Some of my hobbies include swimming, soccer and riding my bike on the many bike trails where I live. I hope to attend university to explore my interests in psychology, biotechnology, and engineering. This is my first Canada Wide science fair and I have loved the experience of getting to this point. I love science and look forward to competing in future fairs. |

A simple fruit fly behaviour assay to study the Circadian Effect

My hypothesis was that proper Circadian Cycles will result in better fruit fly climbing ability. I found that light-dark cycle and the age of the fly are important factors for climbing performance. The observations reported here encourage a more detailed study to understand how the nervous system functions in the context of age and circadian rhythms. |
