Abstract:The project tested if Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) or Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems could be used to aid the prevention of water damage to personal articles caused by unintentional placement in a washing machine. Testing was performed using RFID and EAS prototypes; various tags were used to detect ranges and application detectability in many circumstances. The EAS system proved to be the most reliable.
