Biography
My name is Mahir Hamid and I am a grade 9 student attending the TOPS program at Bloor Collegiate Institute in Toronto, Ontario. I'm an ambitious, diligent and creative young person looking to change the world. I am well-versed in the world of advocacy and inspiring change. I am an altruistic and enthusiastic person that is always looking for opportunities to apply myself to solve real-world problems. At school, I’m very involved in the debate team, student council, HOSA and various other clubs. I also commit my time to many other activities outside of school including fulfilling the position of VP of HR at a student-run company. In the future, I hope to apply my passion for STEM while diverging my creativity to become a chemical engineer or an architect. My project idea stemmed from my curiosity about the future of sustainability, from pondering about what I could do as a youth to help make a difference. In the future, I hope to continue to have a helping hand in the development of a more sustainable society. I would give every youth the advice of taking risks and chances, and exploring anything and everything. Curiosity is a virtue.

All bioplastics that were created are biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Different plastics were put to the test to determine strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
