Biography
I am a grade eight student at Centre Consolidated School, located near historic Lunenburg on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. I am the middle child in my family, and have two brothers. I play all the school sports I can manage as well as many outside of school. I particularly enjoy hockey and in the past season played Bantam AAA. Last year I was fortunate enough to be selected and play for a provincial high performance team. The team was selected to play in a tournament against similar teams from all other Atlantic provinces, which we ended up winning. In the summer I sail and play soccer and usually fit in several weeks of hockey. I am interested in most aspects of science, especially medicine and oceanography.

Up in the Air - VOC Production by Phytoplankton
Division:Health Sciences
Category:Junior
Region:South Shore
City:Lunenburg, NS
School:Centre Consolidated School
Abstract:Very little is understood about the relationship between phytoplankton and the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) they produce. It has been reported that the quantity and type of VOCs varies from species to species, although other variables likely play a role. This relationship was studied in the laboratory as well as through analyzed field samples.
