Biography
I am currently 12 years old and attending Grade 7 in Richmond Hill. I enjoy swimming and playing soccer. I also read a lot and enjoy adventure and fiction novels. For music, I play several instruments and recently joined the school band. I have been playing the violin since four, even though I realize I am not too good at it. It is a challenge I hope to overcome. I enjoy learning and am fascinated at how things work. At age 8, I was first introduced to science expo by the school. My first project tested which end of an eggshell is stronger and how shapes contributed to the strength of construction materials. I received an honorable mention for this project and was very inspired. I started to apply science in successive projects towards the discovery of different types of renewable energy. I have been fortunate to have been awarded gold medals for three of my environmental projects. I believe in finding alternative energy sources and ways to maximize results out of them.

Abstract:This project investigated the viability of reducing organic waste using a household digester. Three bottles containing 100% water, 100% organic waste and a combined solution were set up to decompose over five days. The amount of biogas generated was compared. The solution containing 100% organic waste showed sustained release of biogas compared to pure water. This demonstrates the additional release of methane from organic waste.
