Biographies
Chrissy - My name is Chrissy Roopnarine, and I'm a grade 8 IB student at W.G. Davis. I'm an energetic, cheerful and organized student who is eager to learn and take on new activities/experiences. I'm a very dedicated honours student, who cares about her education very much. I have a wonderful family and friends, who I adore. I love to read, mostly fiction, dance, and sing. I love the arts (visual, drama, and music). In my free time, I write (poetry/other forms), dance (jazz/freestyle), and play the clarinet. I also used to play a cultural instrument, the harmonium. Throughout elementary and middle school, I accepted many different awards. In grade 4, I was deemed gifted, and at my grade 5 graduation, I was awarded an Academics award, and a Perfect Attendance award. During grade 6, I was accepted into the International Baccalaureate program. At school, I am a student ambassador, and am involved/was involved in Junior and Senior Wind Ensemble, Running Club, Chess Club, and Lip Sync Competition 2009. My community activities include Brampton Clean City Youth Ambassadors, Jazz Dance Major Recital, and Swimming. I am looking forward to a successful and worthwhile future.
Gazal - My name is Gazal Grewal and I am currently a Grade 8 IB student at WG Davis Senior PS. I enjoy trying and learning new things, meeting new people - basically doing anything new! I love tennis, soccer, biking, taking walks in the wilderness, dancing and organizational games because I feel they open up new opportunities for me to socialize with other people while staying active. I have always had a passion for language, and it definitely has to be my favourite subject, whether it is English or French. I amazed at the complexity of the human race, and how we have developed such a powerful species. In 2005, I won first place at Spelling Bee of Canada's regional spelling bee in Brampton and I then went on to win first place in Ontario. I have also won several math contests since Grade 4. I don't really know what I want to do for post-secondary education, as I have several interests and I think it will take time for me to discover what I love to do - all I know right now is that I want to make a difference in the world, whether it is environmentally or socially.

Abstract:Current research proves that some gastrointestinal flora may contribute to preventing (L.acidophilus) or causing (S.typhi) cancer. Salmonella typhi and Lactobacillus acidophilus are bacteria that fall into this category. Currently, antibiotics targeted at S. typhi reduce amounts of L. acidophilus. The effects of four antibiotics were tested on these bacteria, and some of the most common antibiotics are increasing our chances of getting cancer.
