Biography
My name is Miranda Sherell, and I am very excited to be taking part in the Canada-Wide Science fair. I participated last year at the 2011 CWSF in Toronto, as well, and found the experience very rewarding. I really have no idea what I want to do after college/university. I am only in the eighth grade, and I have so many experiences ahead of me that could influence my career choice, this science fair being one of them. Right now I am considering a career in brain science, but that could change. All I am saying is, the future is infinite.

Mixed Signals: Are the Synesthetes Among Us?
Challenge:Health
Category:Junior
Region:West Kootenay & Boundary
City:Nelson, BC
School:Trafalgar Junior Secondary
Abstract:Synesthesia is a condition considered to be very rare, in which our separate senses overlap and affect one another, to create extraordinary combined perceptual experiences. Experts, however, have speculated that we all may have some form of this condition. In these experiments, a number of tests will be performed on subjects, to see if our senses are really as separate as previously assumed.
