Biographies
Abbey - Hello, my name is Abbey and I am 12 years old. I am in grade seven and go to Westwood School in Thompson, MB. My hobbies include crafting with duct tape, drawing, camping, swimming and waterskiing. Another activity that I enjoy is competitive dance. I also participate on the Student Action Leadership Team at my school as a Social Chair Person and play the French Horn. When I am older, I would like to be a school teacher because I love working with young children. I have been in Science Fair every year since grade three and this is my first time attending the Canada Wide Science Fair. I have also been on the Honour Roll for the last two years and have won awards from various dance competitions. My partner and I got the inspiration for our project online. We then added to it and made it our own. A further investigation that interests me is to look for similarities in the fingerprints of other relatives. Some advice that I would give to other students about Science Fair, is to just go for it! Science Fair is a fun event that helps build skills like writing, researching and referencing.
Sarah - My name is Sarah Brown and I am 12 years old and in grade 7. I live in Thompson, Manitoba and attend Westwood Elementary School. Some of my interest are going to the Thompson Shooting Range, camping, swmming, playing video games and of course science. I am fun, upbeat and socialable. I am constantly making my friends laugh and have fun. I have multiple hobbies like reading, drawing Japanese Anime, cooking, baking and doing puzzles. I adore all marine life and plan to become a Marine Biologist when I get older. My inspiration for this project came from my friend Abbey who is my partner. I thought it would be a fun and exciting project to do to see what results we would get when comparing fingerprints of parents and biological children. I would like to investigate this project further by comparing our results to other projects done on fingerprints. I would advise other students interested in this project to try a wider range of test subjects because their findings could result differently. This Science Fair was a great experience for me.
