Soohyun - My name is Soohyun Kim. I am a grade 11 student in the IB Diploma Program at Semiahmoo Secondary in Surrey, British Columbia. One of my biggest passion is the environment. I was the co-chair of school environmental club Green Giants last year in Earl Marriott Secondary and the secretary of the district environmental leadership team. I am maintaining my leadership position this year as the secretary of Semiahmoo Earthworks environment club. My partner Preet and I recently came back from a once-in-a-life-time environmental service trip to the Galápagos Islands in Ecuador, where we had the opportunity to observe the unique ecosystem of the islands while staying at a biological reserve. We developed our project based on the trip to raise awareness about the environmental conditions of the islands by creating an innovative solution to further protect and preserve the delicate ecosystem. Outside of school, I am a competitive swimmer, a flute player, and an active volunteer in the community. After graduation, I hope to pursue health sciences to work in a research laboratory or in a healthcare setting. My dream one day is to travel all around the world to visit all seven continents.
Pavanpreet Singh - I am a highly active student at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary. I love participating in student council, Interact and the environment club. I enjoy all sciences especially human biology. My interest in human sciences has helped me to determine that I want to become a doctor and study the human body in detail. My inspiration for this project came from my trip to the Galapagos Islands this spring break. The experience I obtained the Galapagos was unforgettable and using that experience I have created this project with my partner Sooyhun Kim.
