Biography
I am an 11 yr old grade 7 student from St. Michael Catholic School in Niagara on the Lake Ontario. I love science and would like to become a doctor or work in the medical field. At school I am involved as the Minister of Arts and Culture and a member of our We Team. I compete on our Mathletes team, sign with our Sign Language club, sing in our Treble Makers choir, and help out lunch monitoring, shelving books for the librarian, and I perform in our school play. I love painting and this year I arranged for all our gr. 7 students to have a gallery showing of our work at our Public Library. Outside of school, I dance competitively! “Athlete + Artist = Dancer” I volunteer for St Vincent de Paul Church. I alter-serve and I am a Crew Leader at our VBS. I believe that kids need to volunteer in their communities, be a part of something and experience all that life has to offer. Being provided with the privilege of attending the CWSF is an honour, I thank the organizers and volunteers for this opportunity and I wish everyone the best of luck!

Jitter Bug: How HFCS Affects the Longevity, Fertility & Behaviour of Drosophila
Challenge:Discovery
Category:Junior
Region:Niagara
City:Niagara on the Lake , ON
School:St. Michael Catholic E.S.
Abstract:High Fructose Corn Syrup has been increasingly used in food products since the 1970s. Consequently, diagnosis prevalence of ADHD has been rising since the mid-1980s. My project tested numerous generations of Drosophila and found that HFCS does NEGATIVELY affect the longevity, fertility, and behavior of Drosophila. Further testing demonstrated that this could be “reversed". Future research will determine a possible link between ADHD and HFCS.
