Biographie
I am a 14 year old grade 9 student at Princeton Secondary School (BC). I enjoy playing hockey (goalie), basketball, baseball, volleyball and golf. I am currently volunteering as assistant coach for a local baseball team, and volunteered with our PeeWee hockey team. I recently earned my PADI Open Water Diving Certificate in the Cayman Islands. When I am not playing sports, I am playing guitar. I enjoy the Singer Songwriters Club in our school, and I am a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. I have been on the Principal’s List throughout my high school career, and hope to pursue a career in Business and/or Law at McGill. I began searching for a project idea in my classroom. I found myself drawn to Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, but quickly learned this was a complex subject that could not be covered in a science fair experiment. I started to research the idea of relativity as a whole, and stumbled upon relative motion and time, then conducted my experiment on relative time. I would like to extend my study and include more participants in other age groups. I encourage all students to explore something that interests them and see where it can lead.

Time Flies

Sommaire:The problem was to determine if student’s perception of time changes based on the activity they are participating in. Grade 9 students were subjected to three different scenarios (math worksheet, music and sitting idle) and were asked to indicate the amount of time they perceived passed. The results of the experiment indicate that time perception is relative, and is based on more than activity alone.
