Biography
Hello, my name is Kaitlyn Coen, and I am a grade nine student at Glenmary School in Peace River, Alberta. I enjoy all things outdoors - hunting, fishing and camping. My project, the C-Heater, has evolved from a simple "chair-heater" that I use when I'm sitting around a campfire, into a combination sleeping bag / backpack. I am very proud to say that my project won our Regional Science Fair's "Bear's Den" competition, and I qualified from there to win a Venture Prize Award for Youth Entrepreneurship through the University of Alberta's Faculty of Business! But more importantly, I hope that the C-Heater will become a product that can help aid the lives of Canada's homeless population.

Abstract:The C-Heater is a combination backpack and sleeping bag that consists of a water resistant outer layer, a thermal batting, and a fleece lining. My innovation features three prototypes, and can be (hopefully) used as an aid for our homeless community.
