Abstract:This project examined the safety of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) in terms of human health and environmental impact. It was found that CFLs do not emit dangerous levels of ultraviolet radiation and are safe for people if the CFLs are disposed of properly. It was determined that the energy-saving benefits of using CFLs more than compensates for any mercury emissions caused by their production.
