Alfred - My name is Alfred and science has had a resounding impact on my life in the past few years. I attend Prince of Wales Secondary school and our project is based on the negative applications of mouth rinses on tooth fillings. Our desire to investigate our subject was stimulated by the teachings of my partner's father, who is a dentist. If time was not against us, we would've liked to explore the effects of mouth rinses on teeth.
Camron - Science fair has been a great experience for me and I have enjoyed it. Our project which is about the effect mouth rinses have on dental fillings, was inspired by my dad who is a dentist and is always working with these materials. I attend Prince of Wales Mini School in Vancouver BC and a few of my hobbies include soccer, tennis, piano and reading.

Commercial Mouth Rinses: Oral Cleansers or Filling Degraders?
Défi:Santé
Catégorie:Intermédiaire
Région:Greater Vancouver
Ville:Vancouver, BC
École:Prince of Wales Secondary
Sommaire:The long-term use of commercial mouth rinses is controversial since strong solvents like alcohol derivatives may accelerate irreversible damage to costly polymeric dental fillings. Here, we proved that a “so called” alcohol-free, but glycol-containing mouth rinse, can equally degrade the dental filling material through profilometer measurements of the filling surface, a microscopic analysis, and a test of the interface strength between the filling and tooth
