Biography
My name is Jessica Matschek, I’m 17 years old. I currently attend Royal West Academy in Montreal. In school, I participate in numerous activities such as the tennis team, coaching the swim team, peer tutoring and singing in the school choir. I am passionate about giving back to the community; I volunteer at hospitals, work with mentally and physically handicapped children and participate in the Autism Awareness March. In my free time, I enjoy reading, singing, playing several sports and painting. I’ve been participating in Science Fairs for four years now, during that time I’ve been awarded: 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and numerous cash prizes. In the future, I would like to be a plastic surgeon specializing in reconstructive surgery. It is my goal to help burn victims, children that were born with extra digits or whatever case is brought to my attention. As a plastic surgeon I will be able to provide my patients with normal lives, allowing them to feel happy in their own skin.

Abstract:In most cases, depression leads to a higher incidence of obstetrical complications such as preeclampsia during pregnancy. The purpose of this experiment was to investigate whether serotonin could up-regulate the production of estrogen in HIPEC65 cells. The results demonstrated that 5-HT2A signaling affects estrogen production in placental cells.
