Biography
Hello, my name is Gibson Porter, I am 13 years old and in grade 8. I have lived most of my life in Gjoa Haven, NU. I am learning to speak Inuktitut, and I love learning traditional knowledge and how to survive on the Arctic Tundra. I spend a lot of time being outside with my friends and my twin brother, David Jr. We have a husky named Putu, she pulls us around the community using a mini kamutik. I am part of the Junior Canadian Rangers team, we meet in the evenings to learn more about survival in the Arctic. I also love to play sports, my favourite sport is soccer. I enjoy baking and doing arts and crafts. I am interested in aviation and hope to someday become a pilot. I want to fly the planes between the communities in Nunavut. I have family all over Nunavut, if I was a pilot I could visit them all more often. I hope to spend more time on the land with the elders to learn more about my culture and Inuit history.
