Biography
While science is a large part of my life as it will continue to be going into university, I also thoroughly enjoy DJ'ing and this will undoubtedly consume the other half of my time in university. In my town I'll often DJ at parties or dances which are usually put on by people interested in electronic music. In terms of university, I will be going to St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia where I will take a BSE and veer more towards biology. I am a returning finalist to the CWSF as I've done this two times before (grade 8, 9). I was excited to continue my work from grade 8 and to greatly improve upon it this year. It is a possibility that further research may be done into my university years.

A Healthy Alternative to Road Salt
Division:Engineering & Computing Sciences / Environmental Innovation
Category:Senior
Region:Strait
City:Antigonish, NS
School:Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional School
Abstract:Salt is spread excessively on roads throughout Canada in winter. This causes damage to the surrounding environment. An ash/salt combination has shown to be more effective in terms of functionality (melting, traction), environmental impact (toxicity and fertilizing characteristics) and cost efficiency (corrosion and production).
