My name is RIa Van der Linden and I am from Guysborough, Nova Scotia. I am in grade 11 and am very involved with my school and community. I play Soccer, Cross Country, Basketball and Badminton. In school I am the Chair of the Gay Straight Alliance, Co-Chair of the Green Team, Chair of the SMARTRISK program and involved with our Youth Health Center. I also play in my school band. Outside of school I am an active member in the 4-H program and help coach various teams like soccer and basketball. I am involved with commitiees that aid our community as well. I have just recently been notified that I will be awarded the Lieutenant Governor's Medal. I plan on attending St. Francis Xavier University for either the Science or Engineering Program. This is my thrid time to National Science Fair, I hope to have as much fun this time as I have in the past.

Sommaire:The purpose of this project was to determine whether Carrion Beetles have a preference for canopy versus ground level traps, whether there was a difference in the types of Carrion Beetles caught over the collection period, and whether there was a difference in the types of Carrion Beetles caught at the different sites (deciduous versus conifer). I found that different species had definite preferences.
