Abstract:I studied different methods of biomass conversion – pyrolysis, gasification, and wood pellets – and performed a test of chemical extraction of hydrocarbons. The chemical extraction was the most energy efficient, but had the lowest energy yield. The others used large amounts of energy, but produced a proportionately large amount. Apparently the amount of energy generated is proportional to what is used to get it.
